Eight mothers from Soroti district have registered new members in their families in the wake of Christmas celebrations.
By 7:30 am, the register at the Soroti Regional Referal Hospital had already been updated with a list of eight new born babies and eight more are expected to be delivered by close of day, and if that happens, the number of the new born babies on Christmas day will rise to 16.
As the rest of the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, Judith Apiny, a resident of Owalai village in Lale sub county is having two celebrations.
“I delivered a baby girl I am so happy about it because I never expected to give birth today but by God’s Grace it happened,” she said with all smiles.
John Morris Abura a resident of Opuyo in Soroti district while sitting on the floor next to his new first born could not hide.
“My wife delivered a baby girl at about 07:00am and I am so happy because this has never happened in my clan. It is a miracle,” he said.
Abura further revealed that he is going to name the new born baby Emmanuela.
Miriam Asekenye, the in charge on duty at the time of interview, said that they had eight successful deliveries, one of which was through the cesarean section section.
“Even the mother who delivered in the C-section is in stable health and we have discharged most of them,” said Asekenye.
