Coronavirus Suspect Escapes From Soroti Hospital

Authorities in Soroti district of Eastern Uganda have mounted an operation in search of a man suspected of having Coronavirus who disappeared from Soroti Regional Referral Hospital [SRRH] this Monday afternoon of April 05th, 2020.

Dr John Wilson Etolu, the Soroti Hospital Consultant Physician who was supposed to get the blood sample from the victim, confirmed to Aica this evening that, the suspect, identified by the names of Sadik Bakole, a resident of Kengere Ward in Soroti town, went to the hospital after feeling unwell.

Upon examination, Sadik’s temperature was over limit and when he was referred to the isolation section for further tests, he was not seen anymore.

“He came to the hospital at 1pm. We examined him and all signs indicated that he was a case. The gentleman vanished as we were busy organizing our team to go carry the test,” explains Dr. Elotu.

He further revealed that the suspect returned from Congo a few weeks ago and his disappearance is now a risk of exposure to the people of Soroti town or anywhere he might have run.

 

Stephen Ekoom, the Deputy Redident District Commissioner for Soroti has confirmed to Aica that the security team headed by the RDC and DPC Soroti are on ground.

Ekoom has called for utmost vigilance from the public in the Municipality and Teso at large.

There is no identity of the suspect since his action took everyone in the hospital unaware.
